IN THIS WORKSHOP, YOU WILL LEARN:

How to scribble a portrait using 3-5 different colors

Loosen the line

Warm up with intuitive marks until the pencil starts to feel like an extension of your hand.

Layer the colors

Build a face out of three to five colors, watching how each layer changes the mood.

Find the face

Let the portrait emerge from scribbles, raw, expressive, unmistakably yours.

I am an expressive portrait artist and I've always been fascinated by faces. My style is constantly evolving and has progressively become more self reflective - though various models I use, the artwork is a representation of my state of mind. 

I prefer to select a photo reference that best conveys my emotion at that time, and create a piece spontaneously, with more emphasis on getting the emotive content than focusing on an accurate representation of the face.

Therefore, the portraits are mostly female using various mediums, with the faces often portrayed with marks that are raw, intuitive and imperfect and the face at times, mask-like - a shield presented to the world.
