You want to start scribbling a portrait, but...

The first time you try, the page ends up looking too messy.

So you erase it.
You start again… and again.

You tell yourself you need more practice.

But here’s the thing:
Most of these portraits you love don’t start perfectly at all.

They start playfully without overthinking.

And that’s exactly where the magic lives.
In this course, that's what we will work on -

You’ll learn how to begin in a relaxed way,
How to build a face slowly with coloured pencils,
and how to trust the process even when it looks a bit messy at first.

Hi! I’m Liz,

I am an expressive portrait artist and I've always been fascinated by faces. My style is constantly evolving and has progressively become more self reflective - though various models I use, the artwork is a representation of my state of mind.

I prefer to select a photo reference that best conveys my emotion at that time, and create a piece spontaneously, with more emphasis on getting the emotive content than focusing on an accurate representation of the face.

Therefore, the portraits are mostly female using various mediums, with the faces often portrayed with marks that are raw, intuitive and imperfect and the face at times, mask-like - a shield presented to the world.
